Tauting a certain distribution level is one of the most common and flawed advertising conventions. Distribution is meaningless without readership. Just ask yourself:

• how many times do you throw out an adverising circular without even looking at it?
• what ad was on page 2 of today's news or sports section of the newspaper?

High distribution? YES!   Effective? NO!

Many local periodicals say their distribution saturates the local market, but in reality most are left on the shelf or quickly thrown away.
